Early Panorama of Sunnyside

The panorama photograph below was taken in about 1905. The Sunnyside Conservatory is just visible in the center left, identifiable by the pointed octagon roof. Most houses are on Monterey Boulevard (then called Sunnyside Avenue), which can be seen running through the center of the photo.

Circular Avenue runs along the lower edge. The old Sunnyside Powerhouse is the building at the far right with narrow vertical windows (built 1892, decommissioned 1902).

The photograph was taken with a long lens (telephoto) from a point on San Jose Ave near Ocean Ave, a great distance away — thus compressing the view of the neighborhood.
